Charles Harrison Hignett was born in Stapleford, Cheshire, on 16 September 1837 and was commissioned Ensign by purchase in the 45th Regiment of Foot on 12 February 1858. Promoted Lieutenant on 18 June 1861, he relinquished his commission on 17 September 1861, and, tow years later, purchased a commissioned in the Royal Canadian Rifles on 28 July 1863. Arriving in Canada on 9 December 1863, he was promoted Lieutenant on 7 November 1868, and was posted to Newfoundland on 19 June 1869. Appointed Paymaster in the 3/60th King’s Royal Rifle Corps, he exchanged to the 81st Regiment of Foot on 31 October 1874, and proceeded with them to India on 8 January 1875, serving with them as Paymaster during the Second Afghan War. He was promoted Honorary Captain in the Army Pay Department on 1 April 1878, and was promoted Honorary Major on 10 May 1881. Appointed Staff Paymaster on 1 October 1881, he was promoted Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel on 1 October 1888, and was placed on the Retired List on 16 September 1897. He died in Hammersmith on 23 May 1909.

Within the UK
If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.

Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.

Shipping Exceptions
Certain lots such as those containing glass or sharp implements, etc., may not be suitable for in-house shipping within or outside of the UK. Please contact Noonans with any queries.
