Seymour Sackville Carew Dolby was born in London on 17 January 1851 and was educated at Eton. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on 24 July 1872, and was promoted Lieutenant on 24 July 1873, and Captain on 11 May 1880. He transferred to the Army Pay Department on 14 February 1882, and was posted as Paymaster to the 1st Battalion, Coldstream Guards, on 13 February 1885, being posted to the Sudan with them on 19 February 1885. He transferred to the 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders, on 19 July 1885, before being posted back to England in September 1885, and was attached to the 1st Battalion, Royal West Surrey Regiment from 26 October 1885.
Promoted Major on 14 November 1891, Dolby was posted to join the Ashanti Expedition in 1895, ands was one of only 3 officers of the Army Pay Department to qualify for the Ashanti Star. Appointed Staff Paymaster on 27 December 1896, he saw further in South Africa during the Boer War, and was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel on 27 December 1901. Remaining in South Africa following the cessation of hostilities, he was promoted Colonel and Chief Paymaster on 19 October 1904, before returning to England on 16 April 1905, and retired on 17 January 1911. He died on 27 March 1921.
A keen badminton player, Dolby served as Secretary of the Southsea Badminton Club, and in 1893 convened a meeting of all known English Badminton Clubs (many of which had their own rules) in order to standardise the rules of the game; the meeting resulted in the formation of the English Badminton Association, with Dolby elected as the Honorary Secretary and Treasurer. For his services to the sport he was appointed on the the Inaugural Members of the International Badminton Federation Hall of Fame on its founding in 1996.

Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
