The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E., (Military) Member’s 2nd type breast badge, silver; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Jubilee 1935, unnamed as issued; Coronation 1937, unnamed as issued; Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (929 S.Q.M. Sjt: H. King. A.P.C.) mounted as worn, good very fine and better (6) £160-£200

M.B.E. London Gazette 11 July 1940.

Harry King was born in Salisbury on 25 September 1880 and attested there fore the Royal Artillery on 25 April 1899. He transferred to the Army Pay Corps as a Private on 3 April 1901, and was promoted Corporal on 3 April 1902; Sergeant on 3 April 1907; and Staff Sergeant on 29 June 1912. He served throughout the Great War at home; was promoted Staff Quartermaster Sergeant on 29 June 1915, and was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal per Army Order 333 of 1916. Promoted Staff Sergeant Major on 25 June 1920, he was commissioned Lieutenant in the Royal Army Pay Corps on 24 January 1929, and was promoted Captain on 24 January 1937, and temporary Major on 13 June 1940. Appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1940, he was promoted temporary Lieutenant-Colonel on 24 June 1941, and was finally retired on 21 August 1945. He died in Teignmouth on 16 June 1954.

If you are successful in purchasing lot/s being auctioned by us and opt for the item/s to be sent to you, we will use the following methods of shipment:

Within the UK
If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.

Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.

Shipping Exceptions
Certain lots such as those containing glass or sharp implements, etc., may not be suitable for in-house shipping within or outside of the UK. Please contact Noonans with any queries.
